Mapple Apple Porridge Recipe

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups skim milk
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup bulgur
1/3 cup cornmeal
2 teaspoons butter, lightly salted
2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup maple syrup

Directions:

Bring milk, water and salt to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add oats, bulgur and cornmeal and reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring often, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cover.

Heat butter in a small nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add apples and cinnamon and sauté until soft, about 8 minutes. Add syrup, reduce heat to low, cover and cook 2 minutes.

Spoon cereal into bowls and top with warm apple mixture.
