I took Emri to get her H1N1 shot today. Yes I knew there would be a crazy long line, but what I didn't know is that 90% of it would be outside!!! They are doing mass immunizations here for babies 6 months + and pregnant women over 20 weeks. They are doing them at one of our cities largest public facilities so I figured we'd be inside. Boy was I wrong! We waited 3 hours and 45 minutes- 2 hours and 45 minutes of which was outside and it is 0 degress today. I know it could be a lot colder for Canada at this time, but when you aren't moving, and I didn't even wear a jacket it gets pretty damn cold.
Poor Emri was freezing. Thank God Garett's brother lives close and was actually home today so he brought us blankets and jackets. Now to get to my rant part, I am not racist, not in the slightest. For the past 6 years I have worked at inner city schools and loved it! Well after we had been waiting in line for an hour and a half already freezing our butts off and Emri was crying (along with hundreds of other freezing kids) This lady (an older aboriginal lady) just snuck in line in front of me and yelled to her daughter that they were just going to get in line there. I said excuse me, but I have been waiting her for an hour and a half already and you need to go to the end of the line and wait like everyone else. She said no, she was staying. I said, well you are going to have to go somewhere else because that's too bad, she said she wasn't going to argue with me and I said well I am going to argue with you because you are not staying there. She told me her grandson was going to freeze. I told her so were all the other kids and babies who had already been waiting for hours and they would have to move. She then proceded to tell me that it was my fault they were even there. She said I brought sickness and disease to HER country! I mean come on lady!!! I was born here, along with my parents, grandparents, great grandparents and even great great grandparents! Don't pull that crap with me.
I was pissed! I seriously would have taken her out! She finally got the clue that I was not going to let her stay there and left. I hope nobody let her in line and she had to wait like the rest of us. I am still worked up about it.

| i hate when people pull the race card, it is sooo annoying. Like that is the awsner for everything. She didn't have anything else to say so she probably thought you would be quiet after that, im glad you didn't let her cut in front of you, i hope she felt stupid afterwards. |

| Ugh that kind of stuff makes me mad! I'm no racist either but really what gives her the right do that?! The last time I checked it's first come first serve no matter who you are. Good for you for making your point loud and clear. |

I wish I had your balls, I would have said something once and then just mumbled something under my breath ... making sure she didn't hear. haha. I'm such a chicken.
I hope no one else let her cut in line either.
You should have said "I'll show you sickness" and whacked her. haha |

Oh my!!! I can't believe she said that to you. And good for you for not letting her cut in.
We waited for 5.5 hours last Thursday night for the H1N1 shots... 5 hours which were outside, at night. The government seems to be failing at this mass immunization procedure... kids, especially babies, should not have to wait outside for that long!
argh. I could go on! haha |

I don't take any crap when it comes to things like that either ... i say my piece !!
And i also hate when people use the racist card ...
Good luck to you for next week! Hope you don't have to wait too long. |

Goodness I swear there are so many ignorant ppl still out there its so sad to see...glad you didn't just let it go and I hope she had to wait for hrs ...
And aren't you able to get the shot because you work w/kids?? |
