Yesterday my 2month old sons penis was normal sized and sticking out the way it is supposed to, today its gone? I know my little boy is a bit of a big baby but he is not covered in rolls. Why did his penis vanish?

I did some research on hidden penis but none of it in my opinion fits what has happened to him very well. He doesn't have a fat pad, he didn't recently have a circumcision and he wasn't born that way. I guess his weight may be attributing to this, but seriously... here one day gone the next?

I am planing on calling our doctor about this but he's no pediatrician and I bet he will say its normal don't worry about it, but from all I read its not so normal as all that and can cause complications like UTI's and etc.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Is there anything I need to know or do? None of my boys have ever had this problem before and I'm worried.

what exactly do you mean by vanished?

did the skin cover up the head?? or
did the entire thing slip back into his sack??

is it cold? they shrink when cold..you can stick him in a warm bath and see if it reappears...if so then he is just shrinking up due to cold. Michael does that when cold along with his sack tightens up.

I asked my husband what he thought and his thoughts ran along the idea of being chilly too...

If you feel something is wrong though, keep pushing your doctor until you get some answers!!

Its been like that all day and it is definitely not cold as far as I can tell. Its sunk completely in and I cannot see it anymore. I'm afraid to try to pull it out, I wanna see what the doctor says first. This is one of the sites I've looked at for information about what it could possibly be.

http://www.drgreene.com/21_916.html

but to me this still doesn't really fit what has happened to my son, I hope that when I get him up in the morning it will be normal again and stay that way.

I will try a warm bath in the morning just in case, thanks for the suggestion.

Having a pubic "fat" pad does not mean he would be a bigger baby or over weight at his age. This is only for older grown men. The fat pad is something they normally have from birth to a few years old when their body stretches and there is no longer that soft pudgy feeling skin in that region. Im no expert on boys but it does say in what you were reading to press on the pubic region to see if the penis pops out, did you try this? Always talk to your doctor when you are concerned, who cares if all is normal and he is fine it is better to put your mind at ease :)

"I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep."

sometimes that happens to my son aswell. all you have to do is pull the foreskin back from the penis and the penis will magically appear again!

you also have to be sure to do that everytime you change his diaper, he will get red and possibly get an infection if you dont!

The only problem with pulling back the foreskin is that my son doesn't have much if any, he was circumcised shortly after birth.

with his last diaper change last night it came back out and has stayed. I found a forum with mothers who have similar problems with their little boys and one in particular was very like mine. What I understood is that since my sons comes in and out on its own that he will grow out of it. I have to be careful of UTI's. Clean carefully etc.

Someone explained that a young boys ligaments are tight and short and can cause this hidden penis problem but when they hit puberty the ligaments lengthen etc. Scars and adhesion's from a circumcision can also cause the head of the penis to catch on what is left of the foreskin keeping the penis inside when pulled back by the ligaments.

I hope I explained it correctly. I'm still worried about it but not so much as I was. Thanks ladies for all your suggestions and support.

Oh, man. My boy's little dong has been like this for quite some time. It was normal after birth, but then disappeared. I ask my doc about it all the time. Always tells me it should eventually go back to normal. It worries the crap out of me though.

Ok so if I am to understand correctly... the skin is covering the head again? Cori you say the same about Gage?...My doctor explained it to me..Michael's is the same way.. it is called a partial circumsicion..I know I spelled that wrong.. but our doctor left a bit of extra skin there it will pull back on it's own over time as they get older and grow into men.. the doctor explained it is more comfortable to have a bit of extra skin on the penis... right now that extra skin is covering the head...but it wont always be that way.

I figured he is a male so he knew what was best in regards to that part of the body! lol

Yeah I am a little confused at this to... but here is my situation with our boys.

Jonathan has the fat pad thing. It sometimes goes inverted or whatever its called. If you were to look at him he looks like he has a very very very small penis, but its b/c its sucked into that fat pad thing.

Tyler is totally normal. To be honest, if he was my son I would be concerned about his size b/c good lord he is only 5 but still! Thank god I don't have to worry about him and the ladies.

Now Justin, he has what Tracy decribed. He has a little bit of extra skin from his circ. His dr (also a male) suggested it be done this way b/c it will give him room to grow as he becomes a full grown adult. Occasionally the skin over laps his head and I pull it back and still wipe it but most of the time it looks normal.

Ugh all this penis talk makes me wish I had a girl!

Important Cloth Diaper Basics
hanks to the recent "green" way of thinking, people are starting to look more seriously into alternatives to disposable diapers. Cloth diapers have come a long way over the past decade and are nothing like the cloth diapers of the past.

Returning To Work Post Pregnancy
Some women are lucky to have lots of time off after having a baby, while others need to go back to work as soon as possible. No matter how long a maternity leave you may have had to spend with your baby, going back to work can be a hard transition...one that you are not looking forward to making.

Great Breastfeeding Tips
Although breastfeeding is a wonderful experience for you and your baby, it is not one that comes without hardships. Breastfeeding at first, can be very difficult and hard to commit to. It doesn't have to be this way though.
